CockpitFest 2021

Post by Bluelight14 »

Does anyone know more about the CockpitFest 2021 thatn is posted here http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/Cockpit-Fest_2021 ?
I mean, how likely is it that it will actually take place in view of the latest COVID-19 developments in the UK?
Cheers,

All in the air I reckon Bluelight, we can only wait and see what happens nearer the time. If a new strain starts taking hold then Johnson may change his mind but we have to get used to this now as people have to get back to work regardless and earn money - if only for our projects! :-)

Hi, I am planning on arriving on the Friday, and leaving at the end of the Sunday. Can't do the Monday as I need the holiday day for a family camping trip later in the year.

Was hoping to display my work on the flight simulator, but as it's not progressed so much this year with everything else that's been going on, I think I'll do a helmet / mask display, maybe try to detail the development of British cold war era gear. It's been a few years since I've done a helmet display. I may join up with Rich Fryer and his display.

Cheers, Scott.

Hiya Scott,
Feel free to jump in with myself and hippy Rob. The more the merrier as far as I am concerned. Pity Trudy and Rob can’t join us this year

Sent my booking form in today!

Will be doing a cold war British helmet / mask line up showing the developments over time, and maybe a bit of re-enacting for photos too.

Looking forward to it!!

Cheers, Scott.

Well, I have had to cancel my display and attendance. Eldest has just tested positive for Covid19, which scuppers the plans.

Shame as I had put together a really cool line up of helmets and masks, showing the development of oxygen systems and head protection over the post war years. I have carefully matched helmets to masks for their eras, and aircraft types.

I will put the display together at home, and share some photos as its a shame for it to go to waste.

Bummer....

The display that could have been... had a mini CovidFest in our kitchen, so was there in spirit at Newark!

British helmets and oxygen masks from the late 40's to modern day.

Scott, that really is an impressive collection of RAF Masks and Helmets spanning the different eras! It really is difficult now to pick up any clean examples of Flight Gear just lately, good job you collected it over many years and restored some items back to A1 condition? Well done. 8-) 8-)

My remote contribution to Cockpitfest 2021, a web page of the display that would have been:

https://scottbouch.com/cockpitfest-2021.htm

(Cheers CWI, yes I'm actually quite proud of it, slowly filling in the gaps too!)
