Cockpit Fest 2002

Post by Crescentdelta »

Nearly 20 years ago, a bit worrying! I think the Russian cockpit was a Mig, possibly a 21 and superb condition inside, years before the fixation on 'Going Green'. Also on display was a Jag on the back of a lorry but I'm not sure where from now.

Harrier-wise the GR.3 'Skeletal Harrier' was in its early days and still being worked on today, to be skinned and fitted out to a complete item after being sold on later. Roy Jerman's GR.3 restored item by AeroVenture was on loan at the time and fitted to a high standard with lots of cockpit internal shots being taken.

A dull weekend weather-wise but ful of promise for the success the later events would become which I think as the first of the events also saw a number of us kicking off our internal panel displays and other items like kit, clothing etc in the main hangar after discussions with Bill O'Sullivan at NAM who was very enthusiastic from the start.
