DESCRIPTION

This is an electro-magnetic indicator, known as a magnetic indicator, "MI", (or "dolls eye") containing a simple 16Vdc to 28Vdc coil, which rotates a black sphere to reveal a painted side.

In the Lightning, this oxygen blinker indicates flow of oxygen. No flow is indicated by showing the black side of the sphere, and oxygen flowing is indicated by the painted side of the sphere. The sphere flicks back and forth with every breath through the oxygen system. Its purpose is to indicate if flow has failed by showing black, a warning to the aircrew to check their connections, and begin a decent.

NOTE: the indicator I am using currently for testing is not the correct type, having a white circle, the Lightning type C1 indicator is painted with a vertical white straight line.

WANTED

For the project I am seeking 2x 5CZ/5003 (Plessey type 5165Y Mk.14 or 1245Z Mk14) Type C1 indicators. Please see support if you can help.

SIMULATION

EXPERIMENT 1

Not having the correct type of indicator, I have experimented with another I had in stock just to prove the principal.

By simply applying pulses of 28Vdc the indicator is shown to operate.
