EXAMPLE
I don't have a flasher unit, Type A, but do have a similar flasher unit type B, which was not used in the Lightning, but has the same form, fit, and almost the same function.
SIMULATION
As the timing function of flashing lights is easy to manage within the Lightning model code, there is no real need for a flasher unit. But to add the sound of the relay clicking in the hardware cockpit, it can be used for a bit of extra realism. And for a bit of extra fun it can be connected to a digital input to flash the lights of the Lightning model within flightgear on-screen. This may also work across multiplayer flights, so others elsewhere in the world would see the lights being flashed by a real flasher unit from the 1960's!
