LEADING PARTICULARS

Manufacturer:Standard Telephones and Cables (STC)
Installation:A.R.I. 18011

DESCRIPTION

The Instrument Landing System is a radio navigation aid, used when aligning the aircraft with runways equipped with I.L.S. localiser, glidepath and marker transmitters.

The localiser signal provides a port/starboard alignment, while the glidepath signal provides vertical alignment. The marker beacons provide indication of the distance left to the runway.

The I.L.S. localiser and glidepath signals are displayed by moving bars on the navigation display, while the marker beacons illuminate a flashing lamp below te display, the frequency of flashing depends on which marker beacon has been passed.
