Pair of speakers used in Cold War era F-Type and G-Type Flying Helmets of the RAF. These helmets were also used in conjunction with the Mk1 and MK1A protective flying helmets (worn over the top).
The F-Type helmet was short lived in service, as the G-Type (with improved oxygen mask attachments) soon was released to help with pressure oxygen systems.
The F-Type helmet was produced in RAF blue / grey. The G-Type was also produced in the same blue / gray material, but latterly in green.
The G-Type helmet is still in use today in decompression chamber training, but dates back to the early jet era.
These helmets were used on most RAF front line aircraft from the 50's to the 70's such as the V-Bombers (Vulcan, Victor and Valliant), Shackleton, Hunter, Lightning, Canberra, Vampire, Venom, Sea Vixen, Javelin, Gnat, Buccaneer, etc.. - and also used on transport aircraft, helicopters etc...
These speakers are tested and fully functioning. They are used, but are in good shape, and include the small grub screws for securing the helmet wiring harness connections.

These speakers are a of very similar physical dimensions to most USAF and USN flight helmet speakers, and so are an ideal component for converting a US helmet to UK RAF and RN headset impedance, as they fit straight in to the US earpieces. Example common USAF and USN helmets include: HGU-55, SPH-4, APH-6, H-4, HGU-26, HGU-2A, etc...
