PERSONAL EQUIPMENT CONNECTORS, P.E.C.s

DESCRIPTION

The P.E.C. is a three part device for carrying essential services to the aircrew. These services are for: breathing oxygen, air ventilated suit, g-trousers, and mic/tel communications.

It is split into three parts to facilitate seat disconnection from the aircraft upon ejection, and aircrew disconnection from the seat upon separation during parachute descent.

The table below summarises PEC components used in the Lightning:

Notes:

The Mk. 1A aircrew portion oxygen hose PEC (with anti-drowning valve) is only used with a C suffix oxygen mask (with anti-suffocation valve), such as the type P2C or type Q2C oxygen masks.

Regarding the oxygen mask hose assemblies and pressure jerkin hose assembly, the term "man portion" appears in mid-century literature, however a more appropriate term would be "aircrew portion".

SIMULATION

PEC's are being included in this simulator. As the type with 3 gaseous fittings is more readily available, as used in the T Mk. 4 and all single seat aircraft, two of these are being used in the simulator instead of the rarer T Mk. 5 and T Mk. 55 2 port versions.

Two Aircraft portions (27L/1290) have been wired for connection into the simulator audio system:
